16 Family Ideas to Celebrate Fall

September 3, 2018

Make your very own Fall Bucket List to enjoy family activities all season long!

You'll Need:
- An empty mason jar or can
- Embellishments- burlap, ribbon, flowers, stickers
- 10 craft sticks
- Fine-point marker

Decorate your container and write one fall activity on each craft stick.  Place the sticks inside the jar and display proudly in your home. Take turns selecting a stick for family activities for the season!

Bucket List Ideas:

1) Wear Flannel
Easy enough and nothing says "Fall" like a comfy flannel shirt.

2) Paint a Pumpkin
Less mess and just as fun as carving!

3) Make Easy Caramel Apples
Buy a premade carton of caramel dip, slice apples and place some different topping options in small bowls (peanuts, sprinkles, coconut flakes). Take an apple slice, dip it into the caramel sauce, dip it into a topping and devour. Repeat several times.

4) Drink Hot Apple Cider
Here's a recipe to make your own!

5) Family Movie Night
Spooky Buddies and Hotel Transylvania are favorites in our home!

6) Make a Fall Craft

7) Family Game Night by Candlelight
We love this twist on the Charades game that even younger family members can enjoy!

8) Bake Cookies
Try making pumpkin spice or apple cinnamon.

9) Fire Pit Night
Don't have a fire pit? String some small white lights outside and place a few candles in the middle of your porch table to create a cozy outdoor ambiance.

10) Storytime and Snuggle
Find a big family blanket and read aloud together from a favorite book.

11) Host a Chili Potluck
Gather with friends and family and ask everyone to bring their favorite chili recipe! Or you can provide the chili and ask everyone to bring a topping or side like baked potatoes, cornbread, tortilla chips, cheese, etc.

12) Take a Colorful Nature Walk
Enjoy the fall air and orange, yellow and red scenery on a nature walk.  Blue Jay Point and Umstead Park top our list for picture perfect trails.

13) Storytelling by the Fire
Lay out some pillows and blankets near the fireplace and take turns telling your favorite "scary" stories or family memories.

14) Turn up Some Cozy Music
Our favorite Pandora stations on a relaxing, chilly fall day are Nat King Cole and The Piano Guys.

15) Eat Candy Corn

16) Decorate the Front Porch
You can find pumpkins, haybales and lovely fall-colored mums at almost any store this time of year to create an inviting, autumn-inspired exterior!
