Historic Oak View Park is a gorgeous site located in the Southeast area of Raleigh.  Owned and operated by Wake County, this park is completely free to enjoy.  The indoor Visitor Center is home to an interactive, farm-based play space perfect for kids 6 and under, though we have seen older kids enjoy the space too!  Kids can easily spend several hours of imaginative play in the dress-up area, play kitchen, mini farmer's market stand and more! Be sure to ask about the themed Adventure Backpacks that can kids can check-out for extra hands-on, educational fun too. The backpacks are probably one of my kids favorite activities to enjoy at Oak View. The outdoor area surrounding the Visitor Center includes several walking paths, an old barn with replica farm equipment, a corral with live goats (bring veggies to feed them!), a historical home and kitchen, an herb and flower garden, and an old cotton mill.  You can also learn about the park's many events on their website- http://www.wakegov.com/parks/oakview

Know before you go:
During the school year, the park often hosts field trips weekday mornings and the Visitor Center is closed during these times, including the farm play area.  We recommend calling ahead if you plan to visit before 1:00 pm on a school day during the months of August through June.
