The highlight of our recent Myrtle Beach adventure was the opportunity to experience Pirates Voyage, a premier dinner show that promised to thrill our whole family! We had reservations for the 6:00 pm show but made sure to arrive at 4:30pm to enjoy all of the pre-show entertainment and activities. Right from the start we knew were in for an epic adventure!

Upon entering the pre-show arena, kids are invited to transform into their choice of a pirate or a mermaid. My 6 year old daughter of course wanted to go full mermaid and at only $20 it was a no-brainer to add this special treat to her evening. Each young mermaid and pirate is offered elaborate face painting and a variety of take-home items to complete the look, all included in the price. My little mermaid picked a pink tiara, a pink wand, and a pink bracelet, and was even given a Crimson colored pirate flag, which we learned represented the Crimson Pirate Crew that we’d be rooting for during our dinner show. My 8 year son old opted out of becoming a pirate, but was happy to spend his $20 budget in the gift shop full of treasures, choosing a pirate stuffy and small model pirate ship to remind him of his fun time at Pirates Voyage.

During the pre-show, adult beverages, soft drinks and small snacks are available for purchase to help keep everyone content until the main attraction. There is a large seating area where families are invited to sit back and enjoy some live entertainment.  Hilarious singing pirates, a very smart sea lion, and several skilled stunts make this “show before the show” worth arriving early! I’m pretty sure that my kids believed the pre-show WAS the full pirate show because they were having so much fun!

When we were called to line up for the main attraction, we really had no idea what to expect. I’ve been to a variety of dinner shows before, and of course I had seen pictures of Pirates Voyage, but nothing prepared me for just how breathtaking it would be to walk through those doors to see two ornate pirate ships floating on a sea of water. We were ushered to our seats and shortly after our server began bringing out our 4-course dinner including rolls and soup, roasted chicken, bbq pork, corn on the cob and a tasty apple pie croissant for dessert. As we filled our bellies, we were dazzled by an incredible display of daring pirate captains, graceful mermaids, and swash-buckling shipmates. As I mentioned earlier, we were members of the  Crimson Pirate Crew. We rooted and “yo-ho’ed” for our heroic Crimson Crew as they battled the opposing Sapphire Pirate Crew to determine the best pirate crew to ever sail the seven seas!  It was so much fun! Pirates Voyage is such an impressive show that is a must-see when in Myrtle Beach. We talked non-stop about our favorite scenes during the entire drive back to the resort!
