By Akilah Driver, Content Writer at Macaroni Kid Raleigh May 14, 2021

The wonderful southern weather and summer break is among us, friends  and that means more time spend outside! Now that the weather is getting nicer, this is a great time to visit the many gardens that the Triangle has to offer. These 7 beautiful and scenic botanical gardens make for a lovely family-fun afternoon!

  1. WRAL Azalea Gardens

The  Azalea Gardens are now reopened and ask that you maintain social distancing of 6 feet or more while onsite. With both flowering and non-flowering plants, as well as Azaleas of many colors, take pictures, walk hand-in-hand and enjoy your beautiful walk through the garden.

*Currently, the public bathroom facility will remain closed during this time*

  1. JC Raulston Arboretum

The JC Raulston Arboretum is one of the largest and most diverse collections of landscape plants adapted for landscape use in the Southeast. They have a great amount of events, such as tours and demonstrations!

  1. NC Botanical Garden

The NC Botanical Garden is much more than a display garden. It is a “robust ecosystem” where people can discover the natural world, experience its healing and restorative power, and take the opportunity to learn and understand why conservation is imperative to our quality of life.

  1. The Raleigh Rose Garden at Raleigh Little Theater

The Raleigh Rose Garden is open to the public 7 days a week and has offered a year-round display of roses, trees, and perennials! The grounds include sixty rose beds with varieties of hybrid teas, floribundas, grandifloras, miniatures, and antique roses, surrounded by an arboretum of evergreen and deciduous trees.

  1. Fred Fletcher Park Water Garden

An aesthetically pleasing garden with a variety of evergreen and perennial plant species. This one is especially nice because it has a pavilion, basketball court, tennis courts and both sports and multipurpose fields! Excellent for a family day!

  1. Juniper Level Botanic Garden

Juniper Level Botanic Garden is a 28-acre educational, research, and display garden. Staff at the Juniper level botanic garden will assist you in plant identification, so it will be really helpful. This would be great for older kids to walk and learn.

  1. Gardner Arboretum

Located on NCSU campus, this garden is said to be beautiful, quiet, calm and well groomed!

Enjoy!
