Parents, We Made It!

What a school year it has been!   However... We Made It!  It’s time to leave it in the past, help our kids experience some freedom, and LET LOOSE!   With the exhausting school year behind them; the excessive guidelines, policies and procedural nature of the year; children deserve to have some fun, but most of all, to get moving again and to get healthy .  


Put the iPad Down and Get Outside!

Exercise is essential for mental and physical health and can help kids cope with their stress (yes, even kids have stress).  Every child has spent the larger part of the past 12 months indoors, behind screens and more sedentary than ever before. We can not let this continue.  Parents make all the important decisions for their children; what to eat, when to sleep, when to visit the doctor, and when to turn off the screens.  This is no different.  Parental involvement in helping children establish a healthy fitness routine, lays the groundwork for healthy habits in the future.  What you encourage them to do now, and how you encourage them to live, will stay with them all the days of their lives. So, no matter your plan to keep your child active this summer, set them up for a long term healthy lifestyle by making it a consistent routine. We all know that the easiest way to turn something into a habit for our children, is to make it FUN!


Fitness for the Whole Family!

Six Foot Kids, a division of Six Foot Fit, is a 100% outdoor fitness class for kids ages 5-13, based in Cary, NC.  (If you’d like to read more about Six Foot Fit and how two local women started an outdoor group personal training business during Covid, click here!) Each 45 minute class is unique, offers essential functional fitness movement and is designed with pure FUN in mind.  Your child will improve fine motor skills, balance and coordination, athleticism and agility, all while learning to work in a team environment.  Focused around fun and games, they won’t even know they’re “working out”, because every class feels like entertainment! Click here to learn more about Six Foot Kids. Summer Seasons for Six Foot Kids are 3 weeks long each, with seven sessions per season. While most parents opt to purchase a pack of classes to use for both seasons ($125) there are also options to enroll for one season at a time ($80) or pick and choose with drop in classes ($12). Kids classes occur at the same time as adult fitness classes, so you can drop your child off for their workout, and take your own class at the same time!
