Enjoy a special adventure in the rail yard and on the tracks at New Hope Valley Railway (NHVR) during its Track or Treat: Halloween Express Train!
NHVR’s Halloween Express transports passengers on kid-friendly train rides with scenes of mummies, flying witches and other friendly creatures along the route. Younger railfans can play NHVR's Mummy Mayhem, a game where riders search for 13 mummies hidden along the train tracks and in the rail yard and museum. Before or after the train ride, there’s lots to see and do in the rail yard, including songs by the popular singing pumpkins, photo opportunities, a gallery of creepy artwork in the North Carolina Railway Museum’s stationary caboose, Dr. CO2’s magical boo bubbles and the Count Cluckula kids’ game with prizes.
There are five train departure times at 2:45, 4:00, 5:15, 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. during each ride day- October 12th, 19th and 26th.
The event is family-friendly, but earlier departure times during daylight are recommended for younger children. All tickets cost $14 per person and children under two years old are free when sitting in the lap of an adult ticketholder.
Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their costumes.
The following food trucks are scheduled to be at NHVR during its Track or Treat: Halloween Express rides (food and drinks are not included in the train ticket price):
Oct. 12: The Humble Pig
Oct. 19: The Spiedie Turtle
Oct. 26: Mel’s Many Minis Food Truck
