While 2020 has certainly thrown some wrenches in holiday plans, it has not dampened the holiday spirit. Events may look a little different this year but there is a huge variety of safe and festive Chanukah activities for families all around the Triangle to enjoy!

- Stronger Communities: An Evening with Chef Michael Solomonov - Join us as we dig into the culture of food with Chef Michael Solomonov, renowned Executive Chef and Co-owner of Zahav, the 2019 James Beard Foundation award winner for Outstanding Restaurant. Chef Michael will help us get into the Hanukkah spirit with recommended dishes and—through moderated discussion—will share how he infuses culture into his work each day.

- Community Virtual Candle Lighting - Join the Levin JCC as they light candles for the first night of Hanukkah together as a community, virtually. Bring your menorah to show off and hear community members' stories of what makes their menorahs special. Free and open to the community.

- Sharing Stories of Light: Virtual Community Candlelighting and Storytelling Celebration - Join the Raleigh/Cary JCC, Jewish Family Services, and Jewish Federation for a festive evening of Chanukah candle lighting, singing, and storytelling. The candle lighting service and song session will be led by Sass Orol! The event will also feature master storyteller, Gerald Fierst, who will delight us with tales from Jewish folklore.

- Shining Light on Jews of Color: Speaker Night with Tema Smith - Tema Smith is dedicated to building a meaningful and inclusive Jewish community through her work as a researcher, trainer, writer, and engagement professional. Tema will talk with us about her experiences as a Jew of Color, how we might think in new ways about becoming more inclusive of Jews of Color in our own community, and how these themes connect to the deeper spiritual messages of Hanukkah.

- Chanukah Trivia Night - Join Beth Meyer Synagogue for one or two sessions of Hanukkah-inspired trivia. Each session will include three rounds of trivia with prizes for winners. The earlier session is geared to families with young children along with elementary and middle school students. The later session will be geared to older teens and adults of all ages.

- Chanukah Mitzvah Meal Delivery - Jewish individuals and families enrolled in Jewish Family Services Mitzvah Meal program will receive a kosher-style meal on December 4th.

If you want to volunteer to deliver meals, click here or email our volunteer coordinator. - Chanukah Kits by the Jewish Federation of Raleigh-Cary - The Federation is proud to be your one-stop-shop for all things Chanukah! These kits will be available for pick-up on Wednesday, December 9th at the Federation offices.
Order your Chanukah Kit for $25 and receive a box of candles, the ingredients to make latkes, gelt, dreidels, a booklet full of recipes, and activities for kids of all ages, plus a few other sweet treats! $5 from each kit will go directly towards supporting JFS holiday engagement programs for isolated adults/seniors.

- Kadima Chanukah Event - A fun outdoor event at Beth Meyer Synagogue for Kadima kids followed by a kids’ candle lighting on site. Social distancing and face coverings required.

To RSVP, participants need to email programming@bethmeyer.org. - Chanukah Parade and Celebration - Start by getting your car decked out for the Chanukah parade. You can purchase everything from a Chanukiah for your rooftop to festive window gels, flags and more. Order your Car Decorations here, no later than December 6. The parade will pass the Brookdale Senior Center and last +/- 45 minutes followed by a socially distanced Menorah lighting, Music, Dancing, Donuts and more at Lafayette Village.
Monday December 14:- Meet at Sha’arei Israel at 7400 Falls of Neuse at 5:30 pm or join the parade near North Hills at 6pm, specific location to be announced as the date approaches.
- Join the Raleigh Jewish Community at Lafayette Village at 6:45 pm. Registration is required and space limited to ensure safe social distancing. You can choose to participate from your car or on the green. Sign up here.
- JWC Chilarious Chanukah Gift Exchange - Join Chabad of Raleigh’s Jewish Women’s Circle to exchange gifts, jokes, and laughs. Bring a wrapped gift between $10-$15, include a joke and join the JWC for refreshments.

- Community Candle lighting at Beth Meyer Synagogue - Join the Beth Meyer community for an in-person outdoor community candle-lighting at the Synagogue. Bring your own Hanukkiah (menorah) and candles and we will bless and sing together as a community under the stars. Hot chocolate, hot cider and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts will be served.
