This past December, The Marquee Cinemas Wakefield was kind enough to host us for private showing of the Polar Express! There is nothing like seeing a movie on the big screen, in your own private theater.
Hosting a private movie showing at Marquee is surprisingly affordable. Their current pricing for a private showing starts at $99*. This includes the use of the theater for you and up to 19 guests to view your selected movie, up to 45 minutes before or after the movie additional time in the theater, and a table set up for party favors, etc. Sharing the cost with friends makes this even more affordable. Twenty people total would mean $5 per person. That's a STEAL!
You can also order discounted snack packages with your theater reservation, or allow each person to purchase their own at the concession stand upon arrival.
We invited some friends from our "bubble". It was so easy to keep distance if needed since we had the WHOLE THEATER to ourselves!! This also meant that my small children, who had never been to the movies before, could move around and talk if they needed to without me feeling like we were disturbing everyone.
To make our event extra special, I put together "tickets" and bell necklaces as keepsakes and made some hot chocolate cookies for all to enjoy. I also required all children to wear jammies!
I felt very emotional about this experience (I'm a sap!). My husband and I have always loved watching movies. Having small children makes going to the movies more difficult. The Marquee allowed us to share this very special memory with our kids without any of the stress that usually accompanies three children under five needing to sit still and be quiet.
