Drive Shack is a driving range in Raleigh that offers fun for the whole family, not just avid golfers!  We've enjoyed Drive Shack on numerous occasions: date night, weekday outings with the kids, and I've even gone during the lunch hour to work from my computer in between hitting some golf balls. I've never golfed a day in my life, but there is something thrilling about trying to improve my golf swing at Drive Shack.  It could be the fact that they deliver food and drinks to players right to their bay or the interactive video games that are connected with each swing.  In a way, hanging out at Drive Shack reminds me of going bowling.  Each group gets their own private bay and set of golf clubs, then players take turns (usually up to 3 swings) during the game.  The video game feature is fun for kids and adults, as they have a wide variety of games to choose from.  My kids love the Monster Hunt game, where each swing is an attempt to hit a virtual monster on the field.  Drive Shack also offers a relaxing rooftop patio, game room, special events, and a pro shop.

Another unique aspect of Drive Shack is their pricing structure.  Their hourly rates are based on the time of day, $25/hour between 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, $35/hour between 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, and $45/hour between 5:00 PM - Close.  The rate is also per bay, not per person, and each bay can hold up to 6 people.  If you go at the right time of day it can be a really affordable outing for groups of up to 6 people.

While I highly recommend checking out Drive Shack, I must let you know it gets BUSY if you don’t have a reservation.  During their busy times (evenings and all-day during weekends), the wait for a bay can be anywhere from 2-4 hours.  To avoid the crowd, I recommend planning your Drive Shack outing before noon during the week or arriving at least 10-15 minutes before they open at 10am on Saturdays and Sundays.  Of course, you can always make a reservation ahead of time at https://reserve.driveshack.com/select-location.
